The Day After

March 26, 2008

Less than 24 hours ago, OAF took the stage at Dick O’Dows, playing a four-song set that includes “Margaritaville,” “Let It Be,” “Sweet Child of Mine,” and our original “Countdown to Rock.”

People came from miles away. Old high school friends came back to see their brave musicians in action. Yes, it was a magical night.

On a personal note, thank you to everybody who came! I hope you had fun.

Let’s break it down:

The highlights:

1. Before the show, I wanted to get a shirt that had a band on it, so I went to the Salvation Army. Unfortunately, the only shirt they had the renowned country singer Collin Faye from his tour “Counting Sheep.” Wait, did I say “unfortunately”? Because it was perfect for the night.

2. My guitar didn’t have the microphone plug-in, so the nice guy who ran the open mic let me use his. Very cool.

3. “Margaritaville.” Definitely a highlight.

4. The rabid fan base we had.

5. Me wearing sunglasses at night. I thought they looked cool.

6. The post-concert interview in front of the fireplace with the guy who ran the open mic.

7. The chants of “OAF! OAF! OAF!”

8. The guy who played the bongos in the group before us. He was cool.

9. Michael Kontry, who filmed the entire thing. Look for videos sometime this week! He’s a professional. They’re going to be sweet.

10. The fact that we got to watch the Pistons win in overtime. It was sweet.

The ONLY lowlight:

1. This one is really my fault. The sunglasses prevented me from winking at the girls at the audience and I messed up a few times because I couldn’t see. Oh, who the hell cares. Totally worth it.

So will we do it again? Of course!!!! Plans are already in the works for “Countdown to Rock 2: Electric Boogaloo.” I’ll be so much better, so it’ll be really cool.

Look for videos sometimes this week. Thanks again!
